Since 1914 the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has worked to ensure that America's veterans will not be forgotten and those who need assistance will get it. To help achieve those goals, each year donations are made to help make life better for active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families, and America's communities. With nearly 600,000 members in the United States, Guam and Panama, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW actively supports our troops as well as veterans and their families.

Since the War on Terror began, care packages have been sent to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar and other locations around the world. Members also donate to Operation Uplink which supplies free long-distance calling cards to active-duty military and hospitalized veterans to help them stay in touch with their families.

As An Auxiliary Member, You Can...

CELEBRATE OUR HERITAGE

Participate in the Annual Auxiliary Patriotic Ceremony marking the Statue of Liberty's Birthday. On October 28, 2006, Miss Liberty will be 120. The Ladies Auxiliary has been marking the occasion with a celebration on Liberty Island since her 50th Birthday. This Americanism program provides an opportunity to teach young people about our heritage, respect for our Flag, and the responsibilities of citizenship, such as voting. The organization also distributes U.S. Flags to community groups and schools.

THANK AND HONOR TODAY'S & YESTERDAY'S VETERANS...

by providing Operation Uplink prepaid long-distance telephone cards to active-duty military personnel and hospitalized veterans. Respond to special needs such as those created by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Auxiliary also volunteers 2.6 million hours and donates $10.8 million a year helping with needs such as child care, food and transportation.

Ladies Auxiliary VFW Magazine

Voted the No. 1 member benefit by Ladies Auxiliary VFW members.

Every member receives six issues a year of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Magazine. Read about successful activities conducted by other Auxiliaries, the latest information on the national programs, the National President's travels to every Department, the newest member benefits, the candidates running for National Guard, and much more.

Fewer issues also means limited space for articles. However, this is your magazine and the Editors want to make it "member friendly." Read the tips below and then contact them with questions or to share potential story ideas.
